   Wheat...The broken record for white wheat prices continued in early
week trade, as prices remain at the $10.85 level since the first of the
month.  Spot basis also moved back toward the 400 over mark as Chicago
futures retreated this morning. Basis on the protein wheats held steady.
   Shipments...Weekly export inspections showed another strong week for
U.S. wheat shipments, coming in at 20.6 mb to put the year-to-date total
at 283 mb and 25% behind a year ago.  Top shipper was hard red winter at
8.9 mb, followed by white wheat with 5.2 mb and hard red spring with 4.7
mb.  Top destinations off the west coast were Japan and the Philippines,
with each taking over 3 mb, China with 2.5 mb and South Korea at 2.2 mb.
   Crop Progress...The Pacific Northwest saw a band of precipation over
the last week, which encouraged additional winter wheat plantings. Idaho
is reporting 34% of the crop is in versus 25% on average, Washingtion is
at 58% sown versus 47%, and Oregon shows 7% in versus a 13% average.
